Centre County trucking company owner charged in connection with illegal dumping

A Centre County man is being charged with felony theft and forgery in connection with his trucking business.

Ray Walker Jr., 58, of Pleasant Gap, continued his preliminary hearing Wednesday until July 16.

Charges are being brought by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Bureau of Criminal Investigations Environmental Crimes Section.

Walker and his company, Ray Walker Trucking, are accused of illegally dumping Centre County waste material in a Clinton County landfill that charges less money. Waste generated in Centre County is required to be dumped at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority transfer station in most cases.

According to court documents, a former employee told authorities that Walker had issued fraudulent weigh tickets to customers after digitally altering scans of authentic tickets.

A warrant in the case sought business records, including receipts, manifests, computers, digital devices and phones. The employee told investigators that the fraudulent activity had been tracked on an Excel spreadsheet, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
