Centre County United Way moves into new home

The Centre County United Way has a new address in Pine Grove Mills.

Previously, the local United Way chapter had its headquarters in the Cato Park commercial park in Ferguson Township. But the organization decided it had more space than it needed and began looking for a smaller location with cheaper rent.

Late last month, it moved to the first floor of a former storefront building at 126 W. Pine Road — the fourth building, coming from State College, on the left from the blinking light at the state Route 26 intersection.

On Wednesday, the CCUW announced that it had finished unpacking and had finally settled into its village office.

“We’re in the community, which is where we should be,” said Megan Evans, the CCUW communications director. “We’re loving it.”

Evans said the move will save CCUW $25,000 annually in rent. Its hours, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday; email address,; and number, 238-8283, did not change.
