Preproduction suspended on ‘Happy Valley’ film

Preproduction on Brian De Palma’s forthcoming “Happy Valley” has been suspended, Deadline reported Friday.

In casting news, John Carroll Lynch will play convicted child molester and former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky in the film, according to The Wrap.

Lynch has appeared in TV series “The Drew Carey Show,” “Body of Proof,” “American Horror Story” and “The Americans” and movies “Gran Torino” and “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”

Al Pacino will play coach Joe Paterno in what will be the acting legend’s third role working with director De Palma after “Scarface” and “Carlito’s Way.”

The film, based on the book “Paterno” by Joe Posnanski, was picked up by HBO, Deadline reported.
