Pennsylvania has been ranked as having the 10th best school system in the country, according to a report from WalletHub, a personal finance social network.
WalletHub spokesman Raz Daraban said the network conducted an in-depth analysis for 2014’s states with the best and worst school systems.
“Given the strong connection between educational attainment and income level, WalletHub compared the school systems among the 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia to encourage parents to help their children realize their maximum potential,” Daraban said in an emailed statement.
Metrics used to assess the school systems included dropout rates, test scores and bullying incident rates.
New Jersey, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, Kansas, Colorado, Virginia, Minnesota and Wisconsin were the top nine. Washington, D.C.; Mississippi; Alabama; Louisiana and Nevada ranked the worst, the report said.
