Interstate 99 crash injures Howard dump truck driver

A dump truck crashed Wednesday on Interstate 99 after it ran off the road from a tire blowout.

State police at Rockview, reporting the accident early Thursday morning, said the tri-axle truck was traveling north at about 1:26 p.m. in Benner Township when the driver, Arthur Hoffman, 64, of Howard, lost control of his vehicle.

Hoffman’s truck crossed the median to the opposite shoulder and struck an embankment, police said. He suffered what police described as moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Mount Nittany Medical Center.

His truck was towed from the scene.
