A child was fatally struck by a vehicle Sunday in Spring Mills..
The 5-year old boy was pronounced dead at the scene by Centre County Coroner Scott Sayers, and the vehicle’s 75-year old male driver was not injured. The man was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra.
The accident occurred at about 2:55 p.m. on Long Street in Spring Mills. The boy ran onto the street in the path of the vehicle and was struck, police said. Sayers said in a news release Sunday evening that an autopsy showed the boy died from blunt force trauma, and his death was ruled accidental.
Rockview state police are investigating the accident. Police also were assisted at the scene by Penns Valley EMS and Gregg Township Fire/EMS.
