Driver crashes while swerving to miss a bird, police say

A Warriors Mark woman was involved in a crash Thursday after trying to avoid hitting a large bird, “possibly a chicken,” according to state police at Philipsburg.

Darlene L. Kline, 61, was traveling north on state Route 550 in Halfmoon Township when she hit the brakes and swerved to avoid hitting the bird, according to a police report. The driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a bridge abutment, police said.

Kline was transported to Tyrone Hospital with minor injuries.
