Several wildfires, including one not far from the Mount Nittany Expressway, broke out Tuesday around Centre County.
Boalsburg Fire Company Assistant Chief Robert Gordon said a wildfire occurred at 11:15 a.m. along 1150 Linden Hall Road, near Kaywood Park.
He said the fire was caused by leaf burning, which spread due to wind on an acre of barren land.
Firefighters took about an hour to extinguish the blaze, and there was no property damage.

“We got lucky today,” Gordon said.
A Centre County dispatcher, who declined to be identified, confirmed that wildfires also burned in Snow Shoe as well as and Huston and Taylor townships.
The dispatcher said a small shed caught fire at 1 Endless Circle, Huston Township, which caused leaves to catch fire and spread to the forest.
He said it was a small fire.
The dispatcher said he did not know the scope of the fires on Eddy Ridge Road, Snow Shoe, and Nearhoof Lane, Taylor Township.
He also did not know if the fires damaged any property.
No further information was available.
