A Reading woman sustained minor injuries when the vehicle she was driving crashed into a tree Thursday morning on U.S. Route 322, according to state police at Philipsburg.

Cpl. Derek Pacella said Michelle L. Santiago, 54, was heading west on Port Matilda Highway at about 8:30 a.m. when she lost control of her 2002 Suzuki XL-7 SUV on the icy, snow-cover road near the Thompson Road intersection.

A police report said the driver slid on the icy road and hit a tree on the right ride of the roadway.

Santiago was evaluated by Moshannon Valley EMS but refused treatment, according to the police report.

She charged with driving too fast for conditions.
