Shaner Hotels promoted William Hoy to vice president of construction, design and facilities management.

Hoy has 31 years of experience in design, development and construction processes and in facility planning, capital budgeting and construction management. He will be responsible for overseeing the development of new hotel construction, renovations and construction.

The Geisinger Center for Healthcare Systems Reengineering named Penn State professor Soundar Kumara a fellow.

Kumara is a faculty member in the department of industrial and manufacturing engineering. He will work on health care analytic projects with fellow faculty member Guodong Pang and several of their doctoral students and will participate in the center’s leadership, administration, research and mentoring activities.

Joel Myers, AccuWeather founder, president and chairman, was the keynote speaker at the American Meteorolgical Society Third Symposium on the the Weather and Climate Enterprise. He spoke Jan. 6 about the age of transformative innovation where changes are occurring faster than ever before and explained what they will mean for weather enterprise.

Myers called on the government, academic and research sectors and the weather industry to work to address and capitalize on rapid changes.
