A Boalsburg woman was killed early Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash on East College Avenue near Rockview state prison.

Dorothy Franco, 63, was traveling east at about 6:50 a.m. when she lost control of her car due to snowy conditions on the road, according to State College police. She ended up in the other lane of travel and was struck by a westbound Columbia Gas pickup truck driven by James Walker, 53, of Bellefonte, police said.

Franco was pronounced dead at the scene, and Walker was transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center with serious injuries, police said.

The road was closed in both directions from Shiloh Road to Transfer Road until about 10 a.m.

State College police responded to a few other crashes overnight into Monday morning, police said. And state police from the Rockview barracks responded to four accidents Monday morning.
