High schools to participate in Isaac Awards for musicals

Area high schools will participate in the 2015 Isaac Awards ceremony May 24 at the Mishler Theatre in Altoona.

They include Bald Eagle, Bellefonte, Philipsburg-Osceola and State College area high schools, along with Altoona, Bedford, Bishop Carroll, Bishop Guilfoyle, Central Cambria, Great Commission, Hollidaysburg, Moshannon Valley, Tyrone and West Branch area high schools.

Penn State Altoona will celebrate the 10th year of the Isaac Awards, which recognize high school musicals with scholarships for participating students.

Ten $2,500 scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to pursue the arts in college, according to a Penn State news release.

To be eligible, students must be involved in a musical at a high school that will participate in the 2015 Isaac Awards.

The scholarships are through an endowment fund at the college.
