Snow surprises motorists, creates slippery conditions

Two people were taken to the hospital after a car rolled onto its side Friday along Interstate 80 in Boggs Township.

The crash happened at about 7:15 a.m. at mile marker 154 near Yarnell Road, police said. Calvin Taylor, 57, of Johnstown, lost control of his Chevrolet Malibu, causing the vehicle to spin across the left lane and roll onto its side.

According to police, Tynisha Taylor, 32, and Annie Taylor, 70, were taken by Bellefonte EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center with minor injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Taylor was cited for driving too fast for conditions, police said.

Conditions were slippery throughout the county Friday after snow began falling in the early morning hours. According to state police at Rockview, 14 crashes in the area can be attributed to the weather.
