The Penn State Abington professor who went on a rant on a flight back from Nicaragua is no longer teaching.
According to university spokeswoman Lisa Powers, Karen Halnon “is no longer in the classroom, but is still an employee.”
Halnon, a sociology professor, was pulled from the flight in Miami after causing a disruption that included lighting a cigarette and going on a tear about the United States’ involvement in Venezuela.
“The United States has declared war on Venezuela!” she said in the videotaped incident. “I’m already going to be arrested so I’m going to say my piece.”

Halnon was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and breach of peace.
“The investigation into the incident continues,” Powers said.
