Driver cited in Benner Pike crash

State College police have released details about a multi-vehicle crash that briefly closed a lane of traffic Thursday afternoon on Benner Pike.

According to police, Richard Reese Jr., 48, of Pleasant Gap, was headed west on Benner Pike when he attempted to make a left turn into the Nittany Mall at the entrance to Wal-Mart.

He turned in front of a tri-axle truck driven by Lawrence Eminhizer, 49, of Bellefonte, police said, and was hit on the passenger side. His car spun and struck two vehicles stopped at the intersection, one driven by Juen Wong, 56, of State College, and the other by Jamie Straus, 22, of West Orange, N.J.

Reese said he did not see Eminhizer coming, police said. No serious injuries were reported.

Reese’s and Eminhizer’s vehicles were towed from the scene, police said, and Reese was cited for careless turning.
