Repair work to the Milesburg Truss Bridge on state Route 144 will begin Wednesday.
Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. will do the $2.4 million project one side at a time with non-truck traffic controlled by temporary traffic signals. Trucks will be allowed across the bridge for local deliveries, but detours will be in place for other trucks.
The bridge, which was constructed in 1930, was last reconstructed in 1977.
Repair work to the bridge, which carries about 9,100 cars a day, is expected to be complete late this year, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
