Police say speed a factor in College Township wreck

Speed was blamed for a crash Thursday in College Township that flipped a vehicle on its side.

According to police, Hongchao Xie, 23, of State College, was traveling east on East College Avenue when he attempted a left turn onto Porter Road. His Jeep struck the corner of a truck driven by Michael Richardson, 60, of Mifflintown.

Witnesses said Xie was traveling at a high rate of speed when the crash occurred, police said. After striking the truck, Xie’s Jeep flipped onto the passenger side.

No injuries were reported, police said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Xie was cited for traveling at unsafe speeds.
