Driver injured after two-car collision on South Atherton Street

One driver was sent to the hospital after a two car collision Friday morning.

According to police, at about 8:40 a.m., Daniel Lehman, 21, of State College, was headed south on South Atherton Street approaching the intersection of East Branch Road. William Todd, 62, of State College, was attempting to turn left onto Atherton from the commercial plaza across from Branch Road when he was struck by Lehman.

The traffic light for Atherton was red at the time of the accident, according to witnesses.

Lehman reported no injuries, and Todd was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center complaining of wrist and shoulder pain, police said. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Lehman was cited for running a red light, failure to respond to a traffic signal and driving too fast for conditions, police said.
