Centre Gives, the annual 36-hour charity event, wrapped up at 6 p.m. Wednesday, raising $763,434 in 5,684 total gifts to more than 100 different charities.
The event, which started early Tuesday, has drawn a record number of organizations hosting physical events this year, Centre Foundation Executive Director Molly Kunkel said. Open houses, silent auctions and happy hours brought community members together to celebrate their favorite causes.
“One of the fun and engaging aspects of this event is that people can go to CentreGives.org and watch the leaderboard update in real time,” she said.
According to the leaderboard, Friends of Schlow Centre Region Library received the most funding at $44,633 and the most unique donations at 406.

Prizes were also given to organizations who reached certain goals first, such as the most unique donors in a given time period. TriYoga of Central Pennsylvania secured the $1,250 Big Start prize early with 50 donors, Kunkel said. Centre County PAWS nabbed the $1,000 Commuter prize for most unique donors between 7 and 8 a.m. Tuesday while Strawberry Fields took the $1,000 Lunch Time prize for the most unique donors between 12 and 1 p.m. Tuesday.
“We’re thrilled with the continued and expanding generosity of the community,” Kunkle said. “We gave away prizes across the board. All kinds of organizations from all backgrounds won prizes. We’re happy so many people participated.
