A new face in the courthouse is no stranger to the building in Bellefonte.

Assistant District Attorney Lisa Epperly-Galanis was sworn in by Judge Jonathan D. Grine in his chambers Thursday. She will work specifically on domestic and child abuse cases, she said.

For Epperly-Galanis, it is a return to an office she used to frequent. She interned with the Centre County District Attorney’s Office as a 2009 graduate of Penn State Law School during Michael Madeira’s tenure.

Epperly-Galanis was also an intern with the state Office of Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigation while attending law school. After graduation, she practiced civil law in Charlotte, N.C., where she lived before being hired and moving back to Centre County in January.

She said she and her husband are pleased to be moving back. Happy Valley was one of the best places she’s lived because the people are so nice, she said.

“When this opportunity came up, we jumped on it,” Epperly-Galanis said.
