Last week, the State College Area School District received a $2 million Alternative and Clean Energy Program grant for the State High project.
It was issued through the Commonwealth Financing Authority and will be used to attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design gold certification for the redesigned North Building.
The grant is given to community projects invested in green building design features.
A report from district spokesman Chris Rosenblum said gold certification is the second highest LEED level.

The district received its first $2 million grant in October for the South Building design, he said.
“Because the project involves two buildings, it was eligible for a second grant,” Rosenblum said.
