An Altoona man was killed Friday on Interstate 99 near the Bald Eagle exit while working on his truck along the side of the road, state police said.

According to the Hollidaysburg barracks, the operator of a 2011 International Harvester was outside of his vehicle working on it in the southbound shoulder in Snyder Township, Blair County, when another rig approached. The rig swerved to the right from the right-hand lane and struck the man and the driver’s side of the parked rig. The pedestrian was thrown well away from his truck and severely injured. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

The name of the deceased has been withheld pending notification of next of kin. Police are investigating and no charges have yet been filed against the other driver.
