County Commissioners unanimously approved a memorandum of understanding Tuesday for the final plan for a compressed natural gas truck terminal facility in Boggs Township.
Called the Compass Bald Eagle CNG Trucking Terminal Land Development, the facility will host eight trailer-tank filling stations with corresponding facilities and infrastructure.
“It’s an exciting thing to have in the county,” Vice Chairman Chris Exarchos said. “Hopefully some of our businesses and rural locations will have access to this facility so they can utilize natural gas.”
The facility, which will sit near the TA station in Milesburg, will act as a virtual pipeline, Exarchos said. Trucks will be able to fill trailer tanks with CNG, taking them to the businesses and rural areas not close to natural gas infrastructure. When the trailer is empty, a new one is brought in and the empty one can be refilled.
