Woman hit by car while unloading items outside nursing home

A woman was transported to the hospital after an accident in a State College parking lot Tuesday morning.

State College police said they responded to Juniper Village at Brookline retirement home at about 10:20 a.m. after a vehicle driven by an 87-year-old woman hit a 77-year-old woman who was unloading items from the trunk of her car, briefly pinning her between the two vehicles.

Witnesses said the vehicle initially slowed down as it approached the parked vehicle before suddenly accelerating, according to the accident report.

The woman who was hit had a cut on her head and a leg injury, police said. She was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center.
