Downtown State College to get new restaurant

From CDT staff reports

The downtown State College food scene is going to get a new flavor.

Sauly Boy’s on South Allen Street recently posted signage for the new eatery. It is unknown when the restaurant will open, though it’s website said it is “coming soon.” The website said it will serve hot dogs, burgers, fries and Stella’s Gelato.

Sauly Boy’s will be operated by the owners of Irving’s Bagels and Fiddlehead. They began planning another restaurant years ago. David Schoenholtz co-founded Irving’s in 1988, but has declined comment about his plans for a new restaurant since 2014. Managers at Irving’s also recently declined comment.

The Schoenholtz family also founded Green Bowl, but sold it.

The eatery will take the place of Philly Pretzel Factory, which relocated in the spring of 2013.
