When a consumer chooses a real estate agent to represent them, the agent is obligated to be loyal and act in the consumers' best interests, ie. the agent is on the consumers' team. While the Realtor will not make decisions for the consumer, it is important to know that consumers are entitled to disclose pertinent information regarding the transaction that might be of importance. When a Realtor truly represents a consumer, he or she will advocate the consumer's position throughout the negotiations. Ideally, the Realtor should offer the consumer a written agreement, which spells out the mutual duties and obligations. With this written agreement, there will be no question regarding the role of the consumer or the Realtor.
In my opinion, consumers need a reliable source of information about the Centre County area. Which means, having access to all the homes in the marketplace, including other Realtor's listings, for sale by owner listings and of course all of my listings as well. In addition, consumers need a Realtor with experience and knowledge of the market who will promptly answer their questions and requests for information.
