Dr. Mitchell Halpern has joined Strategic Polymer Sciences Inc. as vice president, strategy and business development.Halpern spent most of his career at SRI International and its spinout, SRI Consulting Business Intelligence, where he was a founding partner.

Halpern has more than 20 years of experience in advanced materials, biotechnology and electronics technology commercialization in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Blaine Clapper and Kurt Kroeker, both of State College,have joined Good Steward Software.

Clapper was hired as a sales manager and oversees contracts and human resources. He hold a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Penn State, a master’s in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh and previously worked for OmniComp Inc.

Kroeker was hired as a project specialist.

He is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in information sciences and technology at Penn State, and was previously a web developer for the College of IST at Penn State.


Andrew Danuski, Magnum Broadcasting’s on-air personality Drew Shannon, has won the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters 2008 Excellence in Broadcasting award in the category of outstanding radio commercial in Pennsylvania. He also won the award in 2007.

Danuski is production director for the six-station Magnum Broadcasting chain. He has been with the company since 2005, after beginning his broadcasting career in 1987 in Warren.


Herbert, Rowland & Grubic Inc. has promoted Eric M. Orndorff to service group manager for its survey division.

Orndorff is a licensed professional land surveyor in Maryland and Pennsylvania. He joined HRG’s Lancaster office in 2000 as a survey technician and was promoted in 2003 to manage GPS survey services in the firm’s Harrisburg office.

He was elected an associate of the firm in 2005 and was promoted again in 2007 to regional manager of all survey services throughout central Pennsylvania.

Michael L. Rudy has become president of Blazosky Associates Inc., a mid-sized engineering and earth science environmental consulting firm.

Rudy has been with Blazosky for more than 16 years and has more than 18 years experience in the environmental field. The firm has offices in State College, Royersford and Pittsburgh.

Cleaning service

Doug Moerschbacher, owner of Clean Sweep Professional Cleaning Services in Pleasant Gap, recently received certification in the specialty services of oriental carpet and area rug cleaning after attending a class in Columbus, Ohio. Moerschbacher has owned and operated the company, which is certified in rug and upholstery services, since 1994.


Randy Reeder, of Bellefonte, a financial consultant with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, has earned membership in the 2008 Million Dollar Round Table.

Reeder qualified for this honor based on his sales excellence, outstanding client service, ethical conduct and professional knowledge.

Bellefonte resident Cheri Sinclair was invited to the national Cultural Care Au Pair conference in Santa Fe, N.M. Sinclair, a Cultural Care Au Pair local child care coordinator for Centre County, was recognized because of program growth in the previous year, and her role as a local community resource for parents interested in intercultural child care.

Real estate

Jerry Wettstone, 2008 president of the Centre County Association of Realtors, Karla Ensor, of Bellefonte, and Sharon Hall, of Coldwell Banker University Realty, have been awarded membership in the Pennsylvania Association of Realtors PAR Excellence Club.

The three are a members of the county Association of Realtors, and were among just 66 Realtors across the state honored in 2007.

Eligibility is based on the number of successful transactions, education and participation within the organization and the community.
