Karen Estlund was hired as associate dean for Technology and Digital Strategies for the Penn State University Libraries, where she will lead strategic direction and support for information technology. She has served as the head of the Digital Scholarship Center and associate librarian/professor at Oregon.

Her responsibilities include library technology, media and technology support services, digitization and preservation, discovery, web services and the libraries’ digital research repository. She will also serve as liaison to services and solutions, a unit of Penn State’s Information Technology Services.

Marci Chamberlain joined Seligman, Friedman and Co.’s State College office. as an administrative assistant.

A graduate of Juniata College, she has worked at the firm as a tax season document scanner and 1040 coordinator through a temporary employment agency. She will continue to assist in meeting client needs and performing tasks for firm staff.

National Penn Bancshares recently hired Cynthia Russell as a mortgage loan originator in its mortgage sales group. Russell will be responsible for marketing and supporting the mortgage sales group’s loan programs with designated internal referral sources, realtors, builders and other lead sources. She will be part of the team serving the State College area.

Russell has more than 25 years of financial services experience. She most recently served as a mortgage loan originator for Jersey Shore State Bank.
