Uber was first known for driving people to a destination, but the company began to deliver the goods to customers in 2014.

It’s just taken a few years for the business to do the same in State College.

UberEats, an on-demand food delivery app, recently launched in Happy Valley, the first location in Pennsylvania outside of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. More than 20 restaurants have agreed to terms of food delivery with UberEats.

The company announced Tuesday the official launch of UberEats in the State College area.

The restaurants include Fiddlehead, Hi-Way Pizza Pubs, Primanti Brothers and Dante’s Restaurants & Nightlife eateries Z Bar & The Deli Restaurant, Liberty Craft House, Inferno Brick Over & Bar, The Saloon and bar bleu. Restaurants may agree to the service online at ubereats.com.

Deliveries will be available 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. every day.

Customers can download the app or go to UberEats.com to order from the new service. Users are also able to get updates on their order’s preparation and delivery time.

“With the semester in full swing, we’re excited to offer a new, speedy option for food delivery in State College,” UberEats General Manager for Pennsylvania Casey Verkamp said. “We know that Penn Staters have big appetites, but along with our restaurant partners we’re up to the challenge and ready to hit the ground running.”
