3 Tyrone residents among 37 busted by narcotics agents

Narcotics agents busted 37 suspected drug dealers Tuesday in Altoona who are accused of selling prescription drugs and illegal drugs, the state Attorney General's Office announced in a news release.

The arrests were the result of an eight-month investigation into what Attorney General Linda Kelly said was street-level drug dealing around Altoona. Authorities said Altoona is a hub for suppliers because of increased demand for the drugs.

Three of the defendants are from Tyrone: Dana Ewing, 30, who is charged with delivery of Suboxone; Levi Hollen, 21, who faces charges related to possession and delivery of heroin; and Steven Carroll, 32, charged with delivery and possession of clonazepam.

The 37 defendants are charged with dealing narcotics like heroin, marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and crack cocaine. They allegedly sold prescription pain killers like oxycodone, OxyContin and morphine.

During the investigation, the narcotics agents made undercover purchases and controlled buys.

The Blair County District Attorney's Office will prosecute the cases.
