Six vehicles were involved in a crash Tuesday evening on U.S. 322 in Rush Township, according to state police at Philipsburg.
A Volvo tractor-trailer driven by Jacek Serowik, 44, of Mount Prospect, Ill., was traveling west near Sandy Ridge Road at 5:55 p.m. when he came upon traffic stopped from a previous crash. According to the police report, he failed to see this backup, and swerved too late and struck a 2006 Dodge Durango driven by Karen Gill, 43, of Curwensville, forcing her off the road.
Police said Serowik then steered back into the westbound lane of Route 322 and struck a 2005 Dodge Ram pickup driven by Ronald Gill, 44, also of Curwensville. Gill’s vehicle was then propelled into a 2003 Nissan Altima driven by James Lowman, 64, of Brookville. Lowman’s car was then pushed into a 2002 Ford Escape driven by Andrew Evans, 18, of Osceola Mills, which was forced into a 2008 Pontiac Torrent driven by Carole Womer, 40, of Philipsburg.
Serowik and Lowman were transported to Mount Nittany Medical Center. Serowik’s injury was termed minor by police, and Lowman’s was termed moderate.
