State police called to three suicide attempts in Houtzdale within hours

State police at Clearfield were called to three incidents of attempted suicide within 2 1/2 hours Monday at three different addresses in Houtzdale.

In each case, police reported, an individual “intentionally consumed a large quantity of pills.”

The incidents occurred at 6:42 p.m. on Sue Street, 7:46 p.m. on Good Street and 9:09 p.m. on Hannah Street. The first individual was female and the other two were male. Police said their identities were known but did not provide ages or names.

An officer at the barracks Tuesday morning said police could not say whether the suicide attempts were connected or coincidence.

All three individuals were transported to Clearfield Hospital for treatment and mental-health examinations, police said.

Police were assisted by Clearfield, Houtzdale-Ramey and Madera EMS units.
