The bridge over Buffalo Run in Coleville, Spring Township, is expected to open Wednesday, state transportation officials annoucned.
The bridge on Valley View Road had been closed since April, but PennDOT crews finished the $710,000 project 21/2 months ahead of schedule. The work included replacing the superstructure, repairing the abutments, paving the road and updating the guide rails.
With the upgrading of the bridge, it will be removed from the list of structurally deficient bridges in Centre Coutny. The 4-ton weight limit is also being removed.
The bridge is 50 feet long and carries about 960 vehicles a day, according to PennDOT.
The contractor was Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., of State College.
