Emergency personnel are responding to a reported plane crash near the University Park Airport, near the 1400 block of Barns Lane.

According to reports from the scene, the still-smoking crash appears to be in a heavily wooded area near the Benner Township airport.

A neighbor said that the plane in question seemed to be a small twin-engine vehicle.

Emergency dispatchers said they were three different counties responding for emergency services.

At the scene, there are reportedly about ten ambulances, including Penn State and Bellefonte vehicles, and even more firetrucks. Fire units have responded from companies including Alpha, Pleasant Gap and the Bellefonte.

A reporter at the scene said that fire personnel appear to be carrying portable extinguishers to reach the remote area of the crash.

The last crash at the airport was June 8.
