Centre County is in the path of a torrential thunderstorm.

The system is moving at about 40 mph, and winds could exceed 55 mph.

Heavy rain will lead to localized flooding, and The Weather Channel advises people to not attempt driving through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is also occurring with the storms, and lightning can strike 10 miles away from thunderstorms.

“Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle,” The Weather Channel said.

Radar shows the system entered the county at about 12:10 p.m. and could remain in the area for several hours. There will be breaks in the rain.
