Penn State employee sexually assaulted by man, police say

Penn State police say that a university employee was sexually assaulted.

The suspect, police said in a release, is a white man who the woman knows. Police did not provide an identity or further description of the man.

The alleged sexual assault occurred at about 12:30 p.m. Friday, according to police, who said it took place in the Centralized Biological Laboratory. It was reported to police at 5:43 p.m. Sunday.

Police advised that no one should “feel obligated to do anything you don’t want to,” that people should get verbal consent from their partner and that perpetrators will be held responsible for sexual assaults.

“It can be assumed that conditions continue to exist that may pose a threat to members and guests of the university community,” police said. “It is the duty of the administration to warn of possible ‘dangerous conditions’ on or near the campus and at affiliate organizations off campus.”
