More snow, bitter cold on the way

Cold weather and snow have hit the region, and it looks like more is on the way.

Tuesday’s snow brought about 1 to 3 inches throughout the area, Accuweather senior meteorologist Paul Walker said.

A high of 17 degrees is expected for Wednesday, Walker said. The coldest time of the week could hit Wednesday night into Thursday morning, with a low of 4 degrees possible. Temperatures in the low 20s and high teens are predicted for Friday and Saturday before warming up to a high of 27 degrees Sunday.

Snow showers are expected later in the week but accumulations should be just enough to cover the ground, Walker said.

The weather resulted in a brief respite on the second day back from winter break for some local students. State College, Bellefonte and Bald Eagle area school districts had 2-hour delays on Tuesday.
