While growing up, some people felt at home going to school.
A Blanchard couple has a deal for any of them — a chance to be at a school after going home.
Chris and Joanne Nagle are selling the former Liberty Township School building near their house. For about $70,000, a buyer would get a 4,650-square foot, 2-story brick structure with electricity, water, sewage, about a half-acre of land and a working bell tower.
Constructed in 1900, the building served as a school for 67 years. According to Chris Nagle, Haven Homes then turned it into a truss plant.

The next owner, the Beech Creek-Blanchard Jaycees, met there until the late 1990s, when the group sold the building to another nonprofit. Over the years, it also became the local voting poll during elections.
A little more than a year ago, the Nagles bought the building as an investment, intending to renovate it into a residence or community center. They got as far as installing a new roof last November and later placing new cedar shake on the bell tower.
But the Nagles’ found their other business ventures and family life left them with little time for their dream. Reluctantly, they put the building on the market.
Now, they’re hoping for an individual, group or business with the cash and desire to give new life to a piece of Blanchard’s history.

Holiday meal reminder
Nov. 1 may seem like a long way off from Christmas, but it’s tied to the holiday for Howard Area Food Bank clients.
To be eligible for a Christmas turkey and the Toys for Tots program, families must register with the food bank by the date.
Food bank officials also wish to remind clients that, because of the Labor Day holiday, groceries will be available Sept. 9 and Sept. 23, the second and fourth Mondays of the month, instead of the customary first and third. Each day the food bank will be open from 2 to 4:30 p.m. in the former Beech Creek Elementary School.
