Survey asks residents, tourists for input on Bellefonte

Vana Dainty wants to know what you think about Bellefonte.

The borough’s Keystone community development coordinator needs people to check out a survey that will help collect data on what people think about the community, the downtown and more.

“It’s about what people feel about Bellefonte, what they like,” said Dainty.

The survey is done through the Pennsylvania Downtown Center and is accessible through a link on the borough website.

The questions are simple. Do you think Bellefonte is charming? Do you think it is clean? Does it have enough parking? How about sidewalks? Is the shopping what you are looking for? Is it easy to get around town?

But the questions aren’t just for locals.

“People who visit are welcome to take this, too,” Dainty said.

In fact, many of the questions seem more geared to outside perceptions of the community than just the views of residents.

The purpose behind the data is to help the town get Keystone Community designation. Bellefonte is pursuing becoming a Keystone Main Street.

“Once you have that, you are first in line for a wide variety of grants,” Dainty said.

Programs that are open to Keystone Main Street include revolving loan funds, facade grant money and more.

The survey will be open until May 23. Dainty is encouraging people to take, and share, the survey as soon as possible.
