Bellefonte school board holds meeting in new spot
A Bellefonte Area school board meeting had a change of scenery Tuesday night.
Administrators and the board of directors met at Pleasant Gap Elementary School for an evening that started with a school tour by Principal Tammie Burnaford, followed by a public meeting.
The next several board meetings will be held at various schools within the district.
Board President Rodney Musser said changing up the meeting locations are a way to engage board members — and the public — with schools in the district.
Board meetings are normally held at the Bellefonte Area Middle School cafeteria.
During the meeting, the board unanimously approved the Bellefonte Area Education Association contract eligible through June 30, 2020.
Members Hope Boylston and Mike Danneker were absent.
BAEA President Kim Sharp said in an emailed statement that she’s “not at liberty” to provide information.
March 24 was also announced as a snow makeup day for district students. There’s only been one snow day this school year.
Superintendent Cheryl Potteiger said administrators generally add at least two snow makeup days to the annual district calendar to prevent the school year from going too far past the originally scheduled last day.
