Domino’s, the popular pizza delivery chain, plans to bring a location to Bellefonte.
Located at 114 E. High St., the new franchise is looking to open by the beginning of October, owner Sheldon Port said. Port has already hired a few assistant managers and is in the process of training them at his Duncansville franchise. He said he hopes to hire 20 to 30 employees in total.
Domino’s has been looking to place a location in Bellefonte for a couple of years, Port said, and has seen continued growth from its franchises. Domestic sales grew from about $3.7 billion to $4.8 billion in the past three years. Port attributed the uptick to several new initiatives, including a larger menu and revamped recipes the company established about seven years ago.
“It’s not just pizza and breadsticks anymore,” he said.

Port, who also owns a franchise in Huntingdon, began the planning process in May. He’s been with the company for 16 years and has been a franchise owner for about seven of them.
“My first location was Huntingdon,” he said. “I started there as a driver when I was 18.”
Domino’s opened more than 100 domestic franchises last year and more than 700 worldwide.
The company’s total revenues surpassed $2 billion last year.
