On Centre: Penns Valley | Couple ushers in 12 days of local Christmas shopping in Penns Valley

Anyone in Penns Valley wondering what their true love will be delivering on the 12th day of Christmas may want to check out a local couple’s website.

Ryan and Laura Booz are asking residents to buy local this holiday season, and are compiling a shopping guide to help just about anyone find the perfect gift — and right in their own backyards.

The pair will highlight a different local business every day for a “12 Days of Christmas: Penns Valley Gift Guide.”

Each day, the series focuses on a Penns Valley business, describes what it offers and entices shoppers to check it out. The series began Nov. 26 and is scheduled to continue through Friday, according to the pair.

“Let’s give back to our community this Christmas,” they posted on the website.

So far, shoppers have been shown where to find everything from toys to jewelry, from clothes to sweet treats. There is something for everyone in Penns Valley, the two contend.

In an email, they said the object is, in part, “to provide an affordable means of advertising for small, local businesses that otherwise do not have an online presence, and ... online source for out-of-town visitors who don’t want to miss a single whoopie pie or tractor pull.”

A merry, and warm, Christmas

Several Penns Valley organizations are asking for winter clothing donations to help keep the community warm this winter.

Donations are again being accepted for the annual Mitten Tree project sponsored by the Penns Valley Area Knitters, the Old Gregg School community center and two local girl scout troops.

The groups are looking for donations of new hats, mittens, scarves or socks on the tree in the lobby of the Old Gregg School community and recreation center.

Donations will be accepted through Dec. 16.
