Last minute holiday shoppers should look no further than the Old Gregg School Winter Craft Fair and Farmers Market, say organizers of the fundraiser.

The annual event, which kicks off at 10 a.m. Saturday in Spring Mills, features the best of both worlds — farmers market vendors and local artisans and crafters.

“There will be many Centre County artisans and crafts people, along with local winter farmers market sellers, nonprofits and home businesses offering unique and delicious holiday foods, decorations and gifts for everyone on your list,” organizers said on Facebook.

With a wide range of locally made holiday gifts available, from jewelry and purses to calendars and candles to stained glass and pottery, it could be one-stop shopping. Freshly prepared wreaths, floral arrangements, baked goods and sweet treats will also be available.

And organizers say shoppers can fill their bags while helping a good cause. Proceeds from the event will help benefit the nonprofit Old Gregg School community center and the various community programs it supports through the year.

The community center has been home to a winters farmers market since October. The market’s season will culminate Saturday with the craft fair fundraiser.

The event is scheduled to run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the community center in Spring Mills.

The sounds of Christmas

It’s the season of giving, and one Penns Valley church is passing along donations that will be collected at its upcoming winter concert to people in need.

Peggy Myers, of the Blessed Kateri Church on Penns Valley Road west of Spring Mills, said the Valley Choristers and Community Youth Choir will be performing at 4 p.m. Sunday at the church. The community concert, which features local vocalists and instrumentalist, is called “The Sounds of Christmas.”

Myers said proceeds from the offering will be given to assist local people in need.
