Penns Valley

On Centre : Penns Valley | Array of festivals make it feel like fall

The sights, sounds and smells of fall festivals are ready to return to Penns Valley.

Oktoberfest and fall fest celebrations scheduled in the coming weeks in several local communities will feature music, fun and perhaps most importantly, food.

Millheim will celebrate Oktoberfest from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Festivities there will include, among other things, special fest beers from Elk Creek Cafe, German foods and the Bavarian Stompers, an eight-piece oompah band that plays favorite polkas, waltzes and marches.

Oktoberfest Millheim benefits the Millheim Fire Company and will be held at the fire company grounds and at Elk Creek Cafe.

Those who haven't had their fill can head over to Tussey Mountain, which will hold its Oktoberfest celebrations the same day from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Tickets for that event, which features music, food and beer, can be purchased on the Tussey Mountain website.

If that’s not enough, Aaronsburg’s annual Dutch Fall Festival will bring its trademark tastes, including ham and bean soup and sticky buns, to the valley the first weekend in October.

The festival also features arts and crafts, live entertainment, food vendors and the popular pot pie supper.

Celebrations are scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 and 6.

The pot pie supper is set for 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 5 in the community building, and tickets are available upon request.
