You can make Valentine’s Day a day to give back this year.
On Saturday, the East Penns Valley Library in Millheim will host its annual spaghetti supper to benefit the library.
After the Centre County Library system cut ties with library in 2013 due to financial reasons, the library has been operating through donations.
To help raise money, it annually hosts fundraisers to contribute to its $13,000 operating budget, said board member Lisa Rivera.

“When the library first opened … it was volunteer-run,” Rivera said.
“Sometime in the late ’80s or early ’90s, it merged with the Centre County Library system. It was originally the Aaronsburg Library and then Centre County moved us to the Millheim Borough building because of structural issues at the Aaronsburg location.”
Located at 225 E. Main St., it has been under direction of the Friends of the East Penns Valley Library since October 2013 — a membership-type group that aims to help keep the library running.
“We have generous people here in the valley who want it to stay open,” Rivera said.
“We’re able to keep our head above water because it’s a great community.”
The library is always looking for volunteers, Rivera said.

The library will also hold its annual plant sale the Saturday before Mother’s Day, and regularly has book sales.
