On Centre | Penns Valley: Busy time for Bremen Town Ballroom

The Bremen Town Ballroom, 105 E. Main St., Millheim, is going to be a busy venue the rest of the month.

The facility will host Medicinal Tea Workshop: Herbs to Support Digestive Health with Jennifer Tucker from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Tucker, an herbalist, will teach participants about what herbs to have at home and how to use them to help improve digestion.

Participants will also be able to make teas.

Admission is $30 per person, and those interested can make reservations by emailing ecovents@gmail.com.

Monday is the registration deadline.

Meet and greet

A local candidate petition drive will be held with Centre County Commissioner Michael Pipe from 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 25.

The free event is a way to meet local candidates who will be on the primary election ballot in May.

The event will also include voter registration information, and light refreshments and baked goods.

Variety show

The Harold Taddy’s Variety Showcase will be held 9 p.m. Feb. 27.

Erin Condo McCracken, owner of EcoVents and the Bremen Town Ballroom, said the show is known for its “unique cast” of performers.

Laura Boswell will be among the performers with a set centered on her classical guitar, along with Danny Brumbaugh, who will present his one-man rockabilly band, The Psychic Beat.

Other live entertainment includes Alyson Kate, Peter Buckland and Jason Crane, who will each perform spoken word pieces.

Special quest Hannah Inglesby — as Gypsy Lou — will also be on hand to write and perform poems on the spot, inspired by the crowd.

And Choreabellum Belly Dance will take the stage with a dance performance.

Cost is $10 per person.

Farmers market

No matter the season, the Bremen Town Ballroom won’t be short of local produce and other homegrown goods.

The Millheim Indoor Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday and includes several local vendors.

Produce and other goods come from Stone Meadow Farm, Tamarack Farms, MacNeal Orchards, Gemelli’s, Mountainside Homestead, Garden Secrets and Brazillian Munchies.

McCracken said the market features weekly guest vendors, and always has brunch with weekly specials.
