One man remains in critical condition a day after a disagreement turned violent in the Moshannon Valley.
According to Clearfield County District Attorney Bill Shaw Jr., Jeffrey Lynn Swanson, 44, is still in critical condition at UPMC Altoona.
Swanson was shot at about 2 p.m. in Osceola Mills, Clearfield County, on Wednesday.
The other man hurt in the incident was identified as Robert Dwayne Hanson, 55. Both men live in Osceola Mills.
According to Shaw, Swanson and Hanson “engaged in a physical altercation” that started at the VFW post on Lingle Street. Things turned dangerous when a handgun became involved. The two struggled and, Shaw said, multiple shots were fired.
“Hanson sustained a grazing gunshot wound to the head and Swanson sustained a gunshot wound to the chest,” Shaw wrote in a statement.
Hospital officials were unable to give a condition report on the two men, but Shaw said Hanson was expected to be released soon.
“State police have interviewed dozens of witnesses and this investigation should be wrapped up in the near future,” Shaw said in his statement, adding “State police will leave no rock unturned to gather all of the facts necessary to completely analyze this case.”
State police at Clearfield are in charge of the case. They were joined by Decatur Township police and Columbia Fire Company on the scene.
