Four State College school board candidates win unopposed

The three incumbents and one challenger in the State College Area school board race took home enough votes to win their seats, running unopposed.

Incumbent and board President Penni Fishbaine led the way with 25.83 percent, followed by incumbent Jim Leous with 25.40 percent, David Hutchinson also with 25.40 percent and challenger Scott Fozard with 22.71 percent, according to unofficial results Tuesday.

In total numbers, Fishbaine received 6,753 votes, Leous got 6,641 votes, Hutchinson got 6,640 votes and Fozard earned 5,938 votes.

There will be some consistency on the board while it embarks on major issues such as the high school project. A referendum that would provide partial funding for the project is slated to be on the ballot in May 2014.

Fishbaine and Leous both will be serving their second terms, Hutchinson secured his fourth term and Fozard will be serving for the first time.
