Patton Township issues 78 citations during initiative

Patton Township police say they made 94 contacts and issued 78 citations during a recent aggressive driving enforcement initiative.

The department conducted the effort between March 24 and Sunday, joining with 330 other municipal police agencies and state police to “conduct targeted enforcement on roadways which data show have aggressive driving related crashes.”

According to police, the focus was on distracted driving, speeding and work zone safety, but other unsafe behavior, including driving too fast for conditions, following too closely, careless driving, running red lights and other actions were also cited.

The initiative was part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
