A section of wall was left angled outward along the top level of the Pugh Street parking garage Monday after a driver allegedly hit it.
State College police, fire officials and code officials responded to the call after the accident was reported to police by both the driver and a witness, police said.
Fire officials tied the damaged slab down with rope, anchoring it to the garage. The section will need further repair or removal by a contractor, Centre Region Code Administrator Walt Schneider said.
The section is in little danger of slipping further, he said, as the slab is reinforced. Nevertheless, he said, “it’s not designed to be at that angle after an impact.”

The section can be expect repair soon, borough engineer Amy Kerner said. Once an engineer verifies COG recommendations, a contractor can be sent to repair the wall.
According to Public Works Director Mark Whitfield, the cost of repair will come from the driver’s insurance, saying “This is not one the taxpayers or parking payers will have to deal with.”
